The Problem:

Living in the past, or future, doesn’t work well. Living in the present, is the only way to really feel alive, and be useful. If you feel very nervous, or have a lot of anxiety; stop focusing on the past or future, and get in the present.

Explanations

Being bored is a problem. If you are fully aware of the present, then it's not really boredom, it is however more than existence. If you are always stuck in the past, or future, that existence is not great. The only way to have a great existence is to be fully in the present, the here and now.

If you feel bored, why? The need to always have a distraction going, is a problem with being able to focus, and concentrate. Being aware of the here and now, this moment, is a powerful place to be.

Yes, there is strength in being aware of the present. You can get a better idea of what people are thinking, or how they feel by being in the present. Understanding is key. You have to be both aware of the present and understand that most people are often not in the here and now. Most people spend a lot of their time, either in the past, or future. Being in tune with the present helps you learn how to communicate, and understand others.

You can respond better, when you are in the present. For some people, this may mean being silent, because sometimes; there is nothing you can say to make the other person aware of this moment. You have this moment as a gift, and if you don’t make the best use of it, you will find that when you are old, or dying, that you didn’t live much of a life.

Living in the present sometimes, you need to wake up to the current situation. Be aware, have a care; if everyone were to really get into the present, and be aware; much could be made better. Live in the present, not the past, or future.

If you sit indoors all day, your awareness is different than if you sit on the edge of a cliff looking out over a valley. Your awareness shifts, and is made much bigger when you are looking at a valley from the edge of a cliff. When you are only indoors your awareness isn’t much bigger than the room or house you are dwelling within. Sure you can look out the window, but you are still limited by what you can be aware of. If you're looking out the window, but living in the past, that is a lack of awareness about the present.

Sometimes, you have to reset yourself; and be fully in the present. It helps a lot to be aware of the here and now, for long periods of time. Practice living five or six hours in the present without letting your mind drift back to the past or future. Be aware for extended periods of time about the here and now. Then focus on what really matters. People that are focused on the past or future will not be as aware of what really matters right now, and sometimes; that is a problem for everyone. However with practice, you can be more aware of the present, and not feel as anxious or tense about the past or future. Live in the present, and be aware of yourself, and others.
