The Time Travelers Art

by Ctopher Thomas

“The only real way to time travel, is by living.”

The only perfect time to begin is now. Always in the now. If you wait for the perfect time, you might wait a long time. You can always make changes. You know = ?

After the matrix had been beaten, and the machines were under our control, we had the ability to create new worlds, and new homes. We have adventures now, and live to time indefinite.

The matrix was no longer a prison, something to escape, we had freed ourselves of the matrix; and made it a home. In the new matrix, there are no prisons, we no longer need them.

I’m laying on my back, and have just regained awareness of myself. I feel my body, seems everything is there and intact. I think. First thing that I should do, is open my eyes. And with some effort, manage to open my eyes. Brightness seems all around me. As my eyes adjust to the light, it begins to form shapes around me, until those shapes take forms and I see other beings around me.

“Welcome back.”

“Who are you?” I ask them not knowing or recognizing anyone as being familiar.

“We are your caretakers. And we are here now, to give you a new life, with new experiences, and to live out your most imaginative fantasies.”

“Okay, who am I?”

“You were asleep, and have been reconstructed as an immortal to live again some new dream, and some new lives.”

“And who am I?” I ask with a more curious tone in my voice.

“You will become what you want.” they say, and reach for my hand, to lift me up.

Upon rising, I feel alive. Like a living force in my body that feels like the flow of an entire ocean that is shaping the whole world.

“As instructed, we have prepared your next thousand lives, to be just what you asked for.”

“You always leave instructions for what you want to do with your lives, and in times where there are no instructions we have some fun with trying to come up with something that hasn’t been done before.”

“This time, you left instructions. The simulation has been prepared, for your first life, and will determine the rest of the thousand lives you will live.”

“The simulation is multi-player, and you will be able to spend time with family and friends as you wish. As always should the event occur that you want out, we will know and bring you back to here.”

“As instructed your lives are set to begin your creative work in youth, and you will be given full access to your creative work in the cloud at age eighteen where you can see all your past work to know what to create next.”

“Also there will be real adventures in doing things that most people would find impossible. These will be designed to keep you having fun, and enjoying being alive.”

“There is also the matter of your talent and skill, which will carry over from one life to the next.” Then they add, “The more you use it, the better it will get.”

“And as instructed, we will provide enough variety, and diversity to the lives you have planned to live, to keep things from getting boring, or from being dull.”

“We will also provide some other people’s creative work, as a source to help inspire you to create your own work.”, they say and hand me a towel to wipe my forehead off with.

“Your instructions said that you wanted to be creative, and create art, music, poetry, and many beautiful things while having interesting adventures.”, then they show me the instructions, and strangely enough, I know how to read them perfectly. At least, I haven’t forgotten how to read.

I read through ten pages of instructions that I left behind from my last trip through being an immortal. Before the personality dissolution that reset me back to being a total beginner at living life again for the first time. Seems some things have remained intact; however, I have no recollection of anything from the past of my experiences.

“So when do we start?” I ask them hoping that things will go smoothly, and I can start having some fun.

“Well we can begin now. The simulation is programmed to respond to and adapt to what you need and want. So nothing is really set in stone, and you can change things as you see fit, the instructions outlined that you would live to be fifty years old in each life, and that you would have the same names. At the age of eighteen you will be given the cloud account that holds all your past work. Also as outlined, you will have to struggle most of your life with very little real success until your forty-second birthday. Then the last few year of your life, will be spent with some level of success from your work in that life.”

“Also as outlined, when the whole project is completed, at the end of thousand lives, you will have a big party where all your creative work is displayed for other immortals to see.” It is planned to be great.”

“Sound good to me.”, I say thinking that this sounds like an interesting project. Really I’m getting excited about this project, and want to ask some more questions.

“So the system will respond to me, and my needs?” I ask.

“Pretty much, anything you want to do, will be possible, as long as it is something that leads to being creative and purposeful for your projects.”

“Is there a way to reset the system, if I don’t like the way things are going?” I ask them.

“Yes, there will be a way to reset the system.”

“Will I have a muse?” my first thoughts of a lady.

“There will be a number of muses provided for you.”

“Okay let’s get started.” I find the anticipation of this project growing, and and I’m well pleased that there will be some things to do.

“The system is set for a thousand lives, with fifty years of living for each life. Remember to pace yourself, and enjoy being alive while your doing all the creative work you dream of doing.” they say to me, giving me the final words of advice before I go into the simulation.

With that, I walk into the simulation chamber, and start living a new life, as a baby; and growing into being a man.

A thousand lives later. . .
