The Problem:

You are a hundred feet down the side of a cliff. You are at the end of the rope, and you are fifty feet from the ground. What do you do? How do you make it out alive? Think about this, as you read this article.

Recognize the best results, and work with them. Everyone is hurting, and everyone has some problems. We all need to heal, and feel better.

Remember To Live

You must remember to live while you are here. Some things are common nature in people that live, and you should be able to do that which is natural, and moral, and correct. To what extent you make use of your freedoms, depends upon you, and what feels natural and true. Some people, may not like the ups and downs of life, while others are thrill seekers that look for good ways to use a rollercoaster. Do no harm, or at least the very least that one can while living more than a zombie.

Momento Mori

You must remember, that you will die. Remember that someday you will die, and you must make good use of your time, and life. To what extent you make use of your life, depends upon your needs, and what matters to you. Some things in society need to be understood before really believing. Make good choices in life, and make sure that people are glad you live, and not that they regret your existence.

If you let your fear of death paralyze you, then you are as good as dead anyways. The fear will keep you stuck a hundred feet down the side of the cliff, and fifty feet off the ground.

Thrival

In some ways, we need to be able to make use sometimes of Thrival. The term was made by David J. Sussman (free), and I’ve seen it elsewhere too (paywalled ?? ). See links.

Somehow when people get stuck in survival mode for too long, they forget how to live, and how to enjoy life; and when one gets old, and cranky; they become a total killjoy. Like being at the end of a rope, a hundred feet down the side of a cliff, and stuck. Remember to live.

Really a person need to be able to survive, and still thrive. To what extent a person would define thriving, would depend on what is really necessary, and what makes them feel alive, and happy. You have to do better than living like zombie cat shit. You should have some joys, and some measure of success from your efforts. Because it feels good when your efforts see results that work out good for everyone.

You want to think, “Win / Win” for solutions to problems. When no one has to loose, then those are really good solutions. We want peace, and we want to be happy with good results.

Ways To Get Out

You can climb back up the rope, make it to the top of the cliff, and walk down the other side of the cliff to safety. How difficult that is, depends upon how steep the cliff is, and whether you can climb the side of the cliff, or climb up the rope itself. i.e. Thrival. You both survive, and thrive.

Other Solutions
If there are people around, then someone can lower a rope, and tie the two ropes together, and finish going down the side of the cliff. Safely making it to the ground.

You could also find someway for the people at the bottom of the cliff to catch you, and break your fall. This might be a painful experience, but would work under some situations. Examples of group thival.

If there are no people about, then that isn’t an option. It would be a good option if there was someone around.

You could also wait for the bottom of the canyon to fill up with water, and jump into the water. But, then you would be hanging onto the rope, waiting for a long time, and have to endure waiting on the side of a cliff at the end of a rope, while it rains on you to fill the canyon up with water.

You could, if you were only in survival mode; stay there like you are. Waiting for death, on the edge of the cliff, fifty feet off the ground, and just hang around; waiting for someone to come rescue you.

Sometimes, its best to climb with other people, and not be alone on adventures in the wild where cliffs are concerned. You really should have thought about that, way before you found yourself over the edge of a cliff, like way in advance.

The whole thing could have been avoided, had you been thinking in advance! Didn’t you see when you lowered the rope, that it didn’t reach the bottom? Something you should have measured before you went and climbed down the rope. Proper planning saves wasted efforts.

They are all difficult options, and how difficult it is, depends on your attitude.

The only way out; is through. . .
