The Calling of Immortals

Fiction In The Box
The immortals play different. Sometimes things are only done to have some fun. And really play is an important part of life.
They say: “This is where the fun is.” and maybe that is true. We want to have some real fun. More than the mundane living, that people get too comfortable with in existence.
Sometimes things have to be shaken up. It’s all a game. How much fun can be had, depends on what rules you play by. Sometimes, the rules are necessary.
Pretty lives, make interesting living. Sometimes even the parts that are not real easy, can be useful for something. Everything has some use, given that the doses are suitable. Too much of anything, is a problem.
And really a person has to wonder, “How much is enough?”
At what points does the play become too much to bear? That depends upon the players. And what they want to tolerate as beings. Sometimes you need to get a good scream out, and yell and holler.
Immortals dance to their own beats. Sometimes they even make their beats public knowledge. Other times things are best kept a secret. And really you will find that most immortals can keep a secret a good long time.
Everything depends on the time frames that are being considered. Keeping a secret for a short time, may be easier than say keeping a secret for eternity. And sometimes things wear on you, in ways that make you wish you didn’t know.
Most mortals only know what they are told. They are not really much of thinkers, or dreamers. The way things are, most mortals are like spring chickens. They don’t get the jokes, or the punchline.
Good jokes, can be some good medicine. And, depending upon the scale of the joke, can be made to include everyone. We will have to see who laughs about the jokes being played.
Being too serious; would be a drag. Even in the event that death was on the line; an immortal laughs in the face of danger, and jumps off the cliff, knowing full well; there is a fall in store.
Sometimes having to pick yourself up, is just as much fun, as the way down. And really most mortals won’t understand the rhyme or reasons of the immortals. They are a different breed, altogether.
Amber beckons. I hear her calling me, to her. And there is nothing that I want more, than her calm in these games that feel so serious. Seems the play is proving piercing earnest. And really there must be some way to break the tensions, and pull this game off; with a good joke.
